(DailyVantage.com) – Gender ideology in schools is a very controversial topic these days, but it’s been pushed to the forefront of discussions thanks to laws like Florida’s Parental Rights in Education. Heightened controversy has led some to question whether schools are emphasizing gender roles and identity rather than teaching kids the subjects they need to thrive in life. Fox News’ Tucker Carlson recently interviewed a female who transitioned to male, later regretted it, and detransitioned. Unfortunately, because this apparently doesn’t fit the trans narrative, Google-owed YouTube pulled the video.
During a recent interview, 23-year-old Helena Kerschner talked with Carlson about her experience and how she felt she was “sucked into gender ideology online” on Tumblr at the age of 15 and further encouraged by her school guidance counselor. In addition to the guidance counselor, the school psychologist also helped her put together a plan to transition, including coming up with financing for paying for hormone treatment.
when i was 15, lonely, and hated my body, i got sucked into gender ideology online.
my school encouraged me and i was easily prescribed a high dose of testosterone at 18, and it was very damaging.
this is not rare.#DetransAwarenessDay

At the age of 18, Kerschner visited Planned Parenthood, where she started taking testosterone, a hormone for which she said she easily obtained a prescription. According to her blog, what followed was a psychological nightmare for Kerschner, who found herself in anguish. Her emotional state was a mess, and it wasn’t long before she realized she’d made a mistake.
According to the Daily Mail, in 2018, the UK government launched an investigation to determine why the referral rate for transition surgeries jumped over 4,000%. Many fear social media is to blame. However, as Kerschner’s story shows, a percentage of the trans community regrets the process and will eventually seek to detransition.
The Tucker Carlson interview was hardly damaging in how it discussed Kerschner’s experience — she simply recounted her individual experiences. Do you think Google and YouTube overreacted by yanking an interview telling one person’s story?
