U.S. Senate “Talks” Underway – Millions Of Americans Could Be Effected!

(DailyVantage.com) – Senators from both sides of the aisle are engaging in talks over one of Washington’s most taboo policy issues: Social Security. The public, needless to say, has been wary of having any changes made to government entitlement programs.

During Kamala Harris’s unsuccessful run for president in 2020, she was confronted by an elderly voter from Iowa who told the Senator not to “mess with” her healthcare and various other entitlements.

It has been Republicans, however, that have bore the brunt regarding changes to Social Security and Medicaid. Every election cycle, it seems, Republicans are accused of wanting to strip government assistance from average Americans. An ad released in 2012 depicts a man – who looks an awful lot like Paul Ryan – pushing a wheelchair-bound grandma off a cliff. The ad was meant to remind voters that Ryan, Mitt Romney’s V.P. pick at the time, was a fiscal conservative with his sights set on slashing Obamacare, Social Security, and Medicaid.

More recently, during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address, Biden accused certain Republicans of wanting to “sunset” Social Security and Medicare. The assertion was met with a roar of moans and groans from Congressional Republicans. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) made headlines when she shouted “liar!” at Biden from the back of the chamber.

Biden subsequently pointed to Senator Rick Scott’s 12-point plan during a rally in Florida as an example of Republicans wanting to sunset the programs. Scott, who was later lambasted by Democrats and various media outlets, eventually changed point 6 of his plan that called for Congressional action every 5 years to renew the programs.

Now, Senators Mitt Romney (R-UT), Angus King (I-ME), Tim Kaine (D-VA), and others are tasked with taking up the contentious issue.

As of now, it is unclear what changes the Senators propose to make.
