Greg Abbott’s Claim About Police Comes Back To Haunt Him
(DailyVantage.com) – On May 24, Salvador Ramos entered Robb Elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, and shot and killed 21 individuals, including 19 children, while law enforcement waited in the halls. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) managed to get himself caught up in the ensuing backlash for heaping praise on law enforcement officials in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
On July 12, Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, re-released a video on her Twitter page showing Abbott saying the situation “could have been worse” were it not for the “amazing courage” displayed by law enforcement officials that day.

However, video footage emerged showing officers standing around while Ramos shot and killed 21 individuals. Governor Abbott quickly responded, claiming he received inaccurate information, and he expressed his outrage at the reality of what went down in the school in light of this new information.
The Austin American-Stateman revived the situation after its July 12 release of surveillance video showing law enforcement’s inaction inside the school. The disturbing footage shows officers waiting in the hallways as the gunman is taking the lives of innocent children and teachers. It took them over an hour to finally stop the massacre.
Texas lawmakers have launched an investigation into the response of first responders that day. Meanwhile, Watts wants to know who gave Abbott the bad information that led him to think the officers did an amazing job.
The backlash isn’t good for the governor, who’s seeking re-election in November. His opponent, Democrat Beto O’Rourke, is running a campaign heavy on pushing gun control and stopping mass shootings.
