(DailyVantage.com) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz found himself the subject of widespread mockery on social media after a video surfaced showing him struggling to load a shotgun during the state’s pheasant hunting season opener. The incident sparked a wave of criticism, including from country singer John Rich, who questioned Walz’s credibility as a hunter and joked, “My little sister could beat him up.”
The video, taken during a press-invited hunting trip, captured the governor fumbling with his shotgun, much to the amusement of online commentators. Buck Sexton, a conservative pundit, remarked that Walz looked as “comfortable loading a shotgun as Kamala [Harris] does answering basic questions,” a jab at the Vice President’s handling of press interactions.
Walz, who has often highlighted his Midwestern roots and hunting experience in his political career, faced further scrutiny from conservative commentators like John Cardillo and Jason Robertson. They ridiculed his lack of proficiency, with Robertson sarcastically commending Walz for “saving American lives” by avoiding combat due to his apparent lack of skill with firearms. The video drew comparisons to Looney Tunes character Elmer Fudd, with critics likening Walz’s hunting misadventure to Fudd’s hapless cartoon pursuits.
The Harris campaign, which has emphasized Walz’s rural appeal in key swing states, did not immediately respond to requests for comment following the video’s viral circulation. The incident has fueled discussions about Walz’s image as a seasoned outdoorsman, an identity central to his political narrative, especially as the campaign tries to win over Rust Belt voters.
