(DailyVantage.com) – A female passenger caused a stir at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Sunday evening when she climbed onto the wing of an Alaska Airlines plane due to what officials described as “anxiety.”
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. as Alaska Airlines flight 323 was deplaning at gate N9. Perry Cooper, Media Relations Manager for the airport, said the woman opened the emergency exit over the wing and climbed out, bypassing the usual method of exiting the aircraft.
Emergency responders from the Port of Seattle Fire Department quickly arrived at the scene to assist. They safely helped the woman off the plane’s wing and onto the ramp. Port Police crisis team members evaluated the situation and decided to send the passenger to a hospital for further assessment.
The incident did not result in any injuries and did not disrupt other airport operations, according to Cooper.
An Alaska Airlines spokesperson confirmed the occurrence, stating, “The matter was safely resolved. We are working with our crew and airport officials to gather more details about what may have transpired. We thank our employees for their swift response and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our guests.”
The airline did not provide further details about the passenger or her condition. Airport officials have assured travelers that operations continued without interruption following the unusual event.
