Would-Be Trump Assassin Killed by Sniper’s Perfect Shot

(DailyVantage.com) – More details have emerged surrounding the failed assassination of former president Donald Trump, including the fact that the sniper shot that killed the shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was fairly difficult and considered “one-in-a-million” by investigators and experts who are continuing to review the events that occurred that day.

According to reports, the sniper who fired the killshot at Crooks could only see the killer’s scope and the top of his eye and forehead.

The supposed perfect shot is a stark contrast to the security lapses that occurred on that day – lapses that cost the life of a father of two and critically injured two others. Trump himself was spared by a coincidental movement of his head, causing the bullet to graze a part of his ear. The lapses in security and other mistakes prompted the resignation of U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle. Lawmakers, along with an internal government watchdog are currently investigating the shooting, and Cheatle’s legitimacy tanked even further after she was unwilling to answer a large percentage of questions posed to her during a congressional hearing on the incident.

Before her resignation, Republican lawmakers in particular were looking at the possibility of impeaching her if she persisted in holding on to her position.

In her resignation letter, Cheatle acknowledged that the agency “fell short” of its mandate to protect “our nation’s leaders”. Ronald Rowe, the agency’s deputy director, has been appointed to take Cheatle’s place.

The Secret Service had pointed to local law enforcement as the ones responsible for securing the rooftop that Crooks used as his sniper’s perch, but security experts said that in cases such as the rally in Pennsylvania, the Secret Service had command authority and responsibility for securing the site – and ensuring that all units were where they were supposed to be. Cheatle also claimed during the congressional hearing that there were supposed concerns of putting a sniper from law enforcement on the roof due to its being “too sloped” – a problem that Crooks did not seem to encounter when he fired at Trump from the same spot.
