(DailyVantage.com) – American rapper Kanye West is set to run for president again in 2024, stating that he believes his new wife, Bianca Censori, would be the perfect first lady. This news comes after his 2020 campaign bid and early campaign trail efforts with right-wing influencers Nick Fuentes and Milo Yiannopoulous.
In the 2020 election, West ran a third-party bid under the “Birthday Party. He was able to collect about 60,000 votes across 12 states. However, due to his late entry into the race, he did not reach the requirements for ballot access in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia. While not garnering as many votes as other third parties, his best performance was in Tennessee, where he came in fourth place, just behind Libertarian Party candidate Jo Jorgensen. Tennessee, a safe Republican state with an African American population of greater than 15%, proved well due to West’s campaign stances on abortion, religion, and other issues like ending police brutality.
Despite this, West’s 2024 campaign has become mainstream after he attended a dinner at Mar-a-Lago with former President Donald Trump. Unknown to Trump, West invited his then-campaign advisor and social media live streamer, Nick Fuentes, who has been subject to controversy for his “far-right activism” and Christian nationalism. Since then, Fuentes has left the campaign and been replaced with another controversial figure, Milo Yiannopoulos, who rose to prominence for his work at Breitbart News. West has come under fire for associating with both figures.
West previously received pushback in 2020 for stating that Harriet Tubman “never actually freed the slaves,” noting that, even in free states, African Americans were subject to a different type of servitude. However, West’s controversial statements have only grown since his 2020 campaign. In a recent interview with Alex Jones on the program Info Wars, West expressed sympathy for Adolf Hitler. Given the rhetoric of West’s campaign, he would likely alienate voters on the campaign trail. However, controversy can work as a tool to spread rhetoric and campaign messaging, which could allow West to reach a broader base even if the retention rate is low.
