Pence’s Presidential Bid – The ‘MAGA’ Mystery

(DailyVantage.com) – Former Vice President Mike Pence vows to “clean house” at the Justice Department should he be elected president while refusing to identify himself as a “MAGA” candidate. MAGA candidates follow Donald Trump’s political philosophy, prioritizing policies centered around United States citizens and the economy.

Pence famously ran alongside Donald Trump in the 2016 and 2020 elections but refused to support Donald Trump’s repeated claims that the 2020 presidential election results were invalid. Pence criticized Trump’s response to his loss in the 2020 election and claimed that he would testify against the former president if asked to do so by law enforcement.

Pence also runs his own presidential campaign but needs the mainstream support enjoyed by other candidates like Trump or Ron DeSantis if he wants to win. Pence qualifies to appear in the upcoming Republican debates by satisfying polling and donor requirements enforced by the RNC. While Pence is a well-known public figure among conservatives, he isn’t as popular as he was during his campaigns alongside Trump. Trump criticizes Pence for his lack of support and response to the ongoing criminal cases against the former president. While Pence isn’t supporting Trump’s claims that he’s innocent of illegal behavior, he is adamant that Trump is the victim of a political witch hunt by the Justice Department.

Pence regularly criticizes Donald Trump’s performance as a politician; he refuses to engage in personal attacks against his former running mate. Pence remains professional when discussing his time as Trump’s vice president, instead focusing on the policies he intends to implement if elected president. Pence seems confident he’ll perform well in the upcoming election, but conservative voters aren’t supporting the former vice president like other candidates.

Pence tried to appear relatable in a recent campaign ad by pumping gas while discussing President Biden’s energy-related policies. The ad brought heavy criticism from online audiences, who feel Pence isn’t the relatable everyman he portrays himself as. Despite this disconnect with voters, Pence is still actively running a presidential campaign and believes he’s the best chance Republicans have at defeating Biden in the 2024 race.
