Ted Cruz’s NEW OPPONENT Revealed – He’s Very Controversial

(DailyVantage.com) – Conservative Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), who is up for reelection in 2024, has a far-left challenger in Representative Colin Allred (D-TX).

On Friday, a video of Allred making some questionable statements about gun rights began to circulate the web. In reference to the Second Amendment, Allred said “Would it be better if it had not been written? Of course”. Allred then went on to lament the fact that it is nearly impossible to repeal amendments in the Bill of Rights. The clip, which was recorded in 2018, is now going viral.

In a desperate attempt at damage control, Paige Hutchinson, Allred’s campaign manager, told Fox News that the congressman “respects the rights of law-abiding gun owners.”

That statement, though, appears to be at odds with Allred’s 2018 remarks. Furthermore, Hutchinson did not clarify whether or not Allred still stands by his position on repealing the Second Amendment.

Then, Hutchinson went on to say that the 2018 clip was “highly edited”. His language in the video, however, was abundantly clear.

Though Allred’s position on guns is, without question, a fringe position, he is running a formidable campaign thus far and has put up some impressive fundraising numbers. But while his fundraising chops are nothing to scoff at, his stance on guns can only hurt him in the Lone Star State.

According to a study conducted by the RAND Corporation, a remarkable 45.7% of Texans possess a firearm, more than any other state in the country.

Texas is also a state that went for former President Donald Trump by just under 6% in 2020. While that margin may not be insurmountable, it is still significant.

Cruz, though, has struggled against radical Democrats in the past. In 2018, Cruz defeated Beto O’Rourke, a far-left progressive Democrat, by only 2.6%. He has no room for error, even against an anti-2A candidate.
