Biggs Introduces Articles of Impeachment Against Mayorkas

(DailyVantage.com) – In the two years of Biden’s administration, well over 200,000 illegal immigrants have crossed the southern border each month. In March of 2022, U.S. border enforcement arrested over 210,000 illegals at the border.

President Biden has given the border crisis little attention. On December 6th of 2022, a reporter asked the president, who was getting ready to embark on a flight to Arizona, “why go to a border state and not visit the border?” Biden’s response: “because there are more important things going on. They are going to invest billions of dollars in a new enterprise in the state.”

Biden, though, is not the only one receiving criticism for the government’s abysmal handling of the border.

Many in the Republican party have accused U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas of abdicating his duties by not working to enforce the border.

Rep Andy Biggs (R-AZ), an immigration hawk and member of the House Freedom Caucus, announced Wednesday that he will be introducing articles of impeachment against Mayorkas.

According to Biggs, “Secretary Mayorkas has failed to faithfully uphold his oath and has instead presided over a reckless abandonment of border security and immigration enforcement…” Biggs goes on to accuse Mayorkas of violating the Constitution by allowing “hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens” to poor into the United States.

This, however, is not the first time Biggs has introduced articles of impeachment against Mayorkas. In 2021, Biggs called for the DHS secretary to be removed, saying that his conduct is “incompatible with his duties as an Officer of the United States.”

Biggs, however, cannot impeach Mayorkas alone. He would need to convince House GOP leadership. This, though, may be a feasible task. Speaker McCarthy, back in November, called for Mayorkas to resign or “potentially face impeachment”.

With the new House GOP majority, Mayorkas may in fact be on the chopping block.
