Haley Nikki Requests Secret Service Protection Amid Growing Threats

(DailyVantage.com) – Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has put in a request for a security detail from the Secret Service, citing a jump in threats to her and her family’s safety.

The request comes as Haley continues her campaign against former president Donald Trump. Haley is the lone remaining opposition candidate in the Republican party seeking to thwart another Trump run at the White House after several other contenders dropped out of the race.

According to Haley, she and her family have gone through “multiple issues” regarding their personal safety and security. Neither she nor her campaign has provided any specific incidents as a reason behind her request. Still, Haley has been a victim of at least two incidents of “swatting” – where a hoaxer calls the police to the address of a victim, alleging that a crime took place there.

This was what happened just in December last year when someone called the local police, directing them to Haley’s address in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. The caller said that he had just killed his girlfriend and would kill himself. Police were then dispatched to the residence, unaware that the residence was Haley’s. Haley, her husband, and her son were not home at the time – the only people there were her elderly parents and their caregiver. Haley describes the ordeal as an “awful situation” that saw police officers drawing their weapons and pointing them at Haley’s parents and carer.

Haley has also been targeted by activists and protesters who oppose her stand on supporting Ukraine and Israel, and on many occasions, these activists have caused disruptions and disturbances in events Haley attends.

All in all, the Republican presidential hopeful is taking it in stride. “That’s what happens when you run for president,” Haley said. “When you do something like this, you get threats,” she added. Still, “it’s not going to stop me from doing what I need to do,” the former South Carolina governor stated.
