(DailyVantage.com) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has not yet declared his candidacy for president, is looking like he is preparing for an announcement.
DeSantis is embarking on a busy schedule, leading many to believe he is very seriously mulling over a bid for the White House.
This past weekend, the Florida Governor met with top Republican donors in Palm Beach, Florida. The retreat fueled even more speculation.
In the coming days, DeSantis will begin a tour, promoting his new book “The Courage to Be Free”. He will also be giving a speech at the upcoming Club For Growth retreat.
In the meantime, former President Donald Trump is continuing his line of attack against DeSantis on Truth Social. Trump often touts Republican Primary poll numbers that have him far ahead of DeSantis. The latest poll, conducted by Emerson, puts the 45th president up by a massive 30 points.
Trump, though, isn’t just flexing his poll numbers. He is also engaging in personal attacks against the Governor, often calling him DeSanctimonious and, more recently, DeSanctus.
Moreover, Trump has accused DeSantis of wanting to cut Social Security and Medicaid. He has also declared that Florida was great even before DeSantis came on the scene.
These attacks launched by Trump are fueling speculations that DeSantis will eventually throw his hat into the ring. If DeSantis had no presidential aspirations, it would be hard to rationalize why Trump would be going after him so ruthlessly.
Former Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, both of whom have officially declared their candidacy for 2024, have mostly been spared by Trump’s Truth Social attacks. This is most likely due to the fact that Haley and Ramaswamy are underperforming in the polls. Thus, Trump does not deem them a threat.
As far as Trump is concerned, though, DeSantis would be a formidable opponent.
