(DailyVantage.com) – In an interview with Fox News personality Sean Hannity on Monday, former President Donald Trump made some bold claims about the war in Ukraine.
Trump told Hannity that if he were still President, the conflict, which has been raging since February of last year, would have been solved in “24 hours”.
Trump, author of The Art of the Deal, told the Fox audience that he would have been able to negotiate an agreement between the two countries. “There’s a very easy negotiation to take place”, Trump said, “I will have it solved within one day, a peace between them”. He went on to say that the war must end as soon as possible because “Ukraine is being obliterated.”
The former President has been consistent in his position, wanting to end the conflict immediately. When Tucker Carlson sent out a questionnaire about America’s involvement in Ukraine to GOP presidential hopefuls earlier this month, Trump said that “The President must meet with each side, then both sides together, and quickly work out a deal. This can be easily done if conducted by the right President.”
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), in his written response to the same questionnaire, got himself in some hot water when he referred to the war as a “territorial dispute”.
This past February the war in Ukraine passed the one year mark. In that time, Russian aggression towards the Ukrainian people has not ceased.
Putin, who is showing no signs of letting up, disclosed over the weekend that Russia has plans to station tactical weapons in Belarus. The U.S., as well as other Western powers, have condemned this measure. The Ukrainian government went so far as to call the move “nuclear blackmail”.
After one year of bloody war between the two countries, tens of thousands of men and women have lost their lives on both sides.
