Christie Rips Hunter Biden Probe – DOJ’s ‘Incompetent’ Investigation

(DailyVantage.com) – Former New Jersey Governor and 2024 presidential candidate Chris Christie slammed the Department of Justice (DOJ) and its investigation of President Biden’s son Hunter Biden, branding the work as “incompetent.” A former prosecutor, Christie believes that the GOP should continue to raise concerns about the outcome because “The conduct here by the US Attorney in Delaware… and by the Justice Department just can’t be justified.”

Although Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges for failing to pay income taxes on time, Republicans argue the deal was lenient compared to the severity of the crimes committed. Despite his skepticism about the DOJ’s handling of Hunter Biden’s case, Christie has aimed at Florida Governor and 2024 presidential candidate Ron DeSantis, labeling him a “rumormonger” for expressing concern that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or DOJ might interfere in his campaign.

While Christie believes the DOJ needs to explain itself about the poor investigation of Hunter Biden to restore confidence in the justice system, he also believes that DeSantis and former President Donald Trump are exaggerating when they argue that the DOJ is targeting them politically.

Now, House Republicans in the Oversight Committee are taking it upon themselves to investigate the potential corruption of the Biden family. Republican lawmakers recently discovered that a 2015 email chain unveiled new information about the Biden family’s dealings with Ukrainian energy company Burisma. Some Republicans now assert that then-Vice President Biden used his influence over foreign aid to shield Burisma and its president, Mykola Zlochevsky, from prosecution. These ongoing investigations may have ramifications for the 2024 election and Biden’s re-election campaign.

Meanwhile, the early stages of the Republican presidential primary are underway. Trump remains the frontrunner, with aggregate polling from FiveThirtyEight putting him at about 50.8%, compared to runner-up DeSantis at about 19.5%. Despite Christie’s efforts, he stands at about 3.1% for now. The eventual Republican nominee will face formidable Democratic opposition on their path to reclaiming the White House for the Republican Party.
